ADAPTIVE PADDLING PROGRAMS

The EMS Kayak School is an inclusive program offering instruction and tours to paddlers of all abilities and skill levels. We operate within the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; and have on staff several instructors specially trained and certified by the American Canoe Association to work with paddlers with disabilities. We have developed a series of guidelines known as Essential Eligibility Criteria which allow us to safely match paddlers to our programs, and we use these guidelines with all participants in EMS Kayak School programs.

We accommodate physical, mental and developmental disabilities in several different ways. Modifications of equipment, teaching techniques and locations and instructor to student ratio changes are some of the methods used to make this activity accessible to all eligible paddlers.

  • ACA trained and certified adaptive paddling instructors specialize in working with paddlers with physical and/ or mental disabilities.
