Kayak Instruction
Our newest Kayak School! North Conway is home to the Eastern Mountain Sports headquarters for everything outdoors. In addition to kayaking we offer climbing, hiking, backpacking trips, backcountry skiing and mountain biking through our Climbing School.
The North Conway School is located in the heart of the White Mountains. Within a half hours drive to a half dozen ski resorts, world class rock and ice climbing, and great mountaineering terrain; North Conway is arguably one of the best outdoor destinations in the East.
While you're out adventuring, family and friends are sure to entertain themselves with the regions many seasonal sports and shopping outlets. Meet up at the end of the day at The Moat Mountain Brewery (our cherished local spot) or swap stories at Starbucks, right next to our awesome new shop at Settler's Crossing.

Directions
| From the Boston area Take route 95 north towards Portsmouth New Hampshire. After the toll booth look for exit 4 White Mountains (Spaulding turnpike) which will be on your left. Stay on the Spaulding turnpike north, this will eventually become route 16 north. About 2 hours north of route 95 you will be in Conway NH. Follow route 16 north to the set of traffic lights just past Burger King. Take a left and you'll find us in our beautiful new building just beyond Walgreens. The Climbing School is located on the right side of the Eastern Mountain Sports store. |
| From Portland, ME Take route 302 west for about an hour and fifteen minutes to the junction of route 16 north to North Conway. Stay on route 302/16 north to the set of traffic lights just past Shaw's Supermarket. Go straight at the lights and you'll find us in our beautiful new building just beyond Walgreens. The Climbing School is located on the right side of the Eastern Mountain Sports store. |
| From New York, NY Take route 15 (Merritt Parkway) north to route 8 north to (Waterbury) to route 84 north. Stay on route 84 to the Massachusetts turnpike route 90 east. Stay on 90 to route 495 north, to route 95 north. Take route 95 north towards Portsmouth New Hampshire. After the toll booth look for exit 4 White Mountains (Spaulding turnpike) which will be on your left. Stay on the Spaulding turnpike north, this will eventually become route 16 north. | From Burlington, VT Take rte 89 south to rte 62 east (after Montpelier). From rte 62 in Barre take rte 302 east to North Conway. After the lights in North Conway, keep heading east for about 2 miles and look for us on the right just past the Irving Gas station, take a right and you'll find us in our beautiful new building just behind Starbucks. The Climbing School is located on the right side of the Eastern Mountain Sports store. |
