Quite simply, rolling your kayak to an upright position is the best self rescue method, period. It is one of those counterintuitive skills progressions, however, that demands a skilled instructor with a good eye and deep understanding of the mechanics of various rolling styles to smooth the learning process. So we try to make your learning experience as easy as possible in a warm pool with rolling-friendly kayaks and knowledgeable ACA and BCU certified instructors.

All our instructors are familiar with several different rolling and teaching styles, and will determine which ones are the best match for each student. Working at your pace, the instructors will lead you through logical progressions of skills and movements which fit together to create “the bombproof roll”.

We currently offer bracing and rescues, water confidence, pool rolling 201, pool time and rolling for rollers at this location. All classes are held in the same location, pool space and time slot to maximize our level of instruction!

You Provide: (Required) Clothing is as important part of your kayaking experience, as it will provide you with the warmth and comfort you need to enjoy your day. Cotton should be avoided as part of your layering system as it often remains cold and wet and it takes a long time to dry out. Synthetic fabrics or wool keep you warmer when they become wet with sweat/water and certain synthetic base layers are designed to wick the sweat away from your skin to keep you drier and warmer. During the warmer summer months paddlers often get away with wearing a bathing suit, light synthetic T shirt, sunglasses and some paddle shoes! Very often these paddlers find warmth and comfort in their spare set of dry clothes that include: a thicker synthetic long sleeve shirt and pants, nylon spray jacket and insulating hat. This is often the case in the pool during these cold winter months. You can get cold in the pool and wearing your wetsuit, fuzzy rubbers synthetic layers and paddle jacket are often things students do to keep themselves warm and happy. If you have it, bring it. Often a nylon jacket and some synthetic long underwear worn underneath suffice. If you have questions about how many or which items to bring, please call 800-310-4504.
